Indians to Illegals
Submitted by Charla on Wed, 2008-08-13 11:11. History"What comes around, goes around." "You will reap what you sow."
I've been pondering both the history and future of our country, and I cannot help but wonder if we are reaping what we've sown. I'm not talking about how our Declaration and Constitution were created by God-fearing men who believed that the Bible should be the moral compass of our country's framework. » read more »
Monkey see....
Submitted by Charla on Fri, 2008-08-08 15:44. Home LifeWe were at the park today making friends with another mom and her kids. Our kids were playing together when it became evident that my son was in trouble. He was playing in a tree. He was getting down out of the tree and slid down and got his knee wedged in between two trunk limbs of the tree, maybe 18-24 inches off the ground. He got so stuck we women couldn't get him out, so I had to call 911. It took 5 firemen to get him out by prying the limbs apart as much as they could. » read more »
My mom needs prayers
Submitted by Charla on Fri, 2008-08-01 12:03.My mom could use your prayers. She's been battling a kidney infection for the past two weeks. They docs thought her gallstones were the problem last week, but earlier this week she woke up vomiting with fever, and my step-dad took her to the hospital. She was sent home 8 hours later. I spent all day Wednesday with her and she looked about the worst I've ever seen her. Anyway the kids and I prayed for her before we left the other day and she has been getting better since then. But she just called and she's still weak and in need of full healing. » read more »
SE Homeschool Expo
Submitted by Charla on Tue, 2008-07-15 09:23. HomeschoolAnyone going to the SE Homeschool Expo in Cobb, coming up July 25-26? I want to go but don't want to go alone. There's at least one seminar I want to attend and will go alone if I have to just to get to it. Now that hubby isn't doing his race on that Saturday, maybe we'll go as a family on that day. We'll see.
Have you been to this expo before? Any thoughts?
WALL-E
Submitted by Charla on Fri, 2008-06-27 15:13.Go see WALL-E. It was really good. The computer graphics are absolutely amazing. The story line is redeeming in the end. I won't tell too much so as not to give out the story yet, but seeing the movie could create some good discussion here on this blog.
We went to see it first thing before lunch as my 2 yr. old has been going around the house saying "wallll-eeee" for the past two weeks, with her older siblings egging her on. So we had to go see what all the fuss was about. » read more »
Advice needed
Submitted by Charla on Thu, 2008-06-05 15:09. TechnologyThat lightning strike a few weeks ago seems to have taken out our old desktop computer. It was almost 8 years old, running Windows 98 SE. We used it mainly as the kids' computer, and my husband used it to keep his files on.
The pc won't boot up now, but does have power. I've gotten a quote from a computer store... they want between $65 - 250 to get files off the hard drive, and that's of course if it's possible. They want $65 just to do diagnostics on it. » read more »
A little Christian humor
Submitted by Charla on Tue, 2008-06-03 13:07. HumorJesus and Satan were having an on-going argument about who was better on
the computer. They had been going at it for days, and frankly God was
tired of hearing all the bickering. » read more »
Modem flambe'
Submitted by Charla on Fri, 2008-05-23 11:26. Home LifeA tree next to our house was hit by lightning in the storms the other night. It was on the side of the house next to where the cable line comes in. The electricity went thru our cable line and melted the cable modem on the inside. Plus it took out a computer, a small TV, a cell phone charger, and possibly screwed up two cordless phones. My laptop is ok (which is normally where I work from) but I think the broadband router may be toast as well because it's not registering any ethernet connections. Actually, the laptop isn't either so I have to wonder if it's card is fried as well. » read more »

Stupid driver vent
Submitted by Charla on Tue, 2008-03-04 13:22.I drove my son to school this morning. On the way, I drove thru a big puddle of water on a road going thru construction improvements. I made it to school, but the power steering went out right before I dropped dear son off. Then the van started overheating, so I parked in the school parking lot and called my hubby.
Dear hubby came to the rescue from work and worked on the van in the pouring rain to get it fixed. He had to take the wheel off the front passenger side to get underneath the van, jacked up, to fix what needed to be fixed. » read more »

Live Praise & Worship 24/7
Submitted by Charla on Thu, 2008-01-03 12:51. ChurchThe International House of Prayer in Kansas City has teamed up with God TV to webstream their live 24/7 praise & worship sets. They are offering a 7 day trial before having to subscribe ($10 a month). This trial goes until Jan. 7th. You do have to register before getting access to the trial but it's well worth it.
Here's their website to check them out. http://theprayerroom.tv/
These people go day and night worshipping God in prayer intercession & devotion sets. It's pretty powerful. There's just something awesome about live worship. Personal worship alone is great too. But there is something so strong when many get together to worship in a corporate setting. » read more »
Free will?
Submitted by Charla on Thu, 2008-01-03 12:35. Bible | DoctrineIs there really such a thing as free will?
How can God give us free will if He is omnipresent and omniscient? Time is not a constraint for Him if He is, and was, and always will be. Since He knows everything, then He knows the decisions we will make and when we will make them.
For example, let's say someone prays for financial help on Monday morning. That afternoon, a check comes in the mail from an unknown source. That check had to be mailed before Monday morning in order to make it there that same day, so God had to move someone's heart before Monday to put that check in the mail. That would be before the recipient actually said the prayer. So God knew that the recipient would pray and make preparations before the prayer to get the check in the mail. » read more »
Started ballet this week
Submitted by Charla on Wed, 2007-09-12 00:16. Ballet | Home LifeWell I finally did it. I signed up our oldest daughter for ballet this past Monday. On your recommendations we're now at En Pointe.
Our daughter is only 4 but she really enjoyed the class. I was sidetracked by having to watch her little toddler sister as well, but from what I could observe, the teacher was very friendly and patient with each dancer.
At the end I was moved to tears when they turned out the light to let all the dancers just dance for the Lord in whatever way they wanted. To see these little ones jump and twirl and dance together for Him... an answer dropped in my spirit about why they were here... God made these little ones just so He could enjoy them too. » read more »

Prayer & Fasting Movement
Submitted by Charla on Thu, 2007-07-19 17:32. FastingThere are places of prayer opening up across the nation. Known as the "International House of Prayer" - or IHOP - these locations serve to ignite and encourage the young people of this age to a life of fasting and praying until Jesus returns.
There is a location here for the metro area. IHOP Atlanta has just moved into their own building off of Collins Hill Rd. in Lawrenceville. They are open 24/7 for anyone to come and pray. They minister to the Lord with live praise and worship this whole time. Two-hour slots are carved out for different kinds of prayer: Devotional prayer (a time of reflection and Bible study in a worship setting), Apostolic prayer (a time for spiritual warfare and intercession, especially for those living in Atlanta and the area), and Worship in the Word. On Sunday nights they have an Encounter Service, which more resembles a "traditional" church service of praise & worship usually lasting more than an hour, then Bible teaching, then an altar call. » read more »
