The logical conclusion
Submitted by Dave on Mon, 2008-12-22 13:56. College | Humor | StupidityIn this column, Burt Prelutsky discusses academia's latest offering upon the altar of Almighty Diversity. While reviewing the representation with America's collegiate student body of various demographic groups, someone has noticed that a particular segment of society was underrepresented -- specifically, poor people. » read more »
From Baal to Barack
Submitted by Dave on Fri, 2008-12-19 10:10. Bible | ChurchAs this column indicates, the distance from ancient Baal worship to modern leftism isn't exactly a giant leap. It's actually barely a step. And they call themselves "progressives."
When shopping turns deadly
Submitted by Dave on Wed, 2008-12-03 14:11. StupidityMe personally, I wouldn't be caught dead going to a Wal-Mart the day after Thanksgiving. Tragically, it appears that one man did die from being trampled by enthusiastic shoppers on America's biggest shopping day. What does this say about our values, let alone our ability to control ourselves?
The Lord is going to judge this nation most severely. I don't know exactly when He will do this, but I do know that I don't want to be here when He does.
Stupid vs. principle
Submitted by Dave on Tue, 2008-11-25 16:13. Politics | Pro-Life | StupidityObama wants to pass the Orwellian-named "Freedom of Choice" act. This bill, if enacted, would nullify nearly all current laws that restrict abortion in any way. However, it would go much further, making it impossible for any hospital that provides OB/GYN services to decline to perform abortions. (So much for "choice.") » read more »
Making sacrifices
Submitted by Dave on Fri, 2008-11-21 15:01. Economics | Humor | Politics | StupidityWhen Rick Wagoner, CEO of General Motors, went to Washington recently to ask for federal aid, he flew there in a corporate jet. Some of the members of Congress confronted him about this. However, GM has made it clear that they understand that the current economic climate means cutbacks for everyone, even their own executives. So, even as they petition Congress for hundreds of millions of freshly printed dollars, they are returning two of the company's leased jets. » read more »
The value of a college education
Submitted by Dave on Tue, 2008-11-18 11:36. Homeschool | StupidityIt costs a lot to put your kid through college these days. Of course, you expect to get some value for your money, in the form of an educated young adult who can, you know, think and solve problems. Unfortunately, there is just no guarantee of that, as Rachel Lucas discovered recently:
Lab partner: “Well now we must make the solutions stronger to test higher concentration.”
Me: “We can’t make them stronger, they’re from stock solution.”
LP: “So we just add more!” » read more »
Double standard
Submitted by Dave on Tue, 2008-11-04 16:49. Politics | StupidityI suppose we see so much of this sort of thing that we can be inured to it, but sometimes it sticks in my craw. Have a look at this video, and then ask yourself what would have been the response -- from the police and the media -- if it had been KKK members, rather than the Black Panthers, outside the polling place.
Ezekiel and America
Submitted by Dave on Fri, 2008-10-17 22:27. Bible | Church | Confession | Holiness | IsraelLately, I have been reading the book of Ezekiel. In some of the early chapters, I have been struck with the manner in which the events and visions described in God's Word parallel events that we see in America today. » read more »
Fathers, take note
Submitted by Dave on Thu, 2008-10-02 12:55. ParentingA recent study reveals that kids who spend time with their fathers have higher IQs. The difference in IQ is detectable until after the children are in their 40s. The study stresses that it is not enough just for the father to "be around"; we must be actively involved in our kids' lives, interacting with them and spending quality time with them -- and starting at an early age, too. » read more »
Time yet?
Submitted by Dave on Thu, 2008-10-02 12:44. Humor | PatriotsJust saw a good comment from Vox Day's blog:
"Is it time to water the tree of liberty yet?"
Of course, considering the original quote, that is a double-edged sword.
